Dr. Ammons attended Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laud in 1979. As a Marshall scholar, he earned his Masters degree at Oxford University. He returned to Denver and attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine and continued with his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Ammons has been performing LASIK and PRK since 1996, when the first FDA approved excimer laser arrived in Denver. He also has an active cataract, glaucoma and general ophthalmology practice.
Dr. Ammons is a board certified member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is currently President Elect of the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Appointed by the Governor, he served, he served four years as a member of the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners, chairing panel A, before returning to dedicate full time to his ophthalmology practice.
