Dr. Robert Fish is a board-certified ophthalmologist, corneal specialist, and partner of Colorado Eye Consultants. His areas of expertise include routine and complex cataract surgery, especially those involving previous cornea transplantation and refractive surgery (LASIK, Radial Keratotomy). He also specializes in the latest techniques for cornea transplantation including Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK), Descemet’s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK), Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) and Penetrating Keratoplasty (PKP). He also performs minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) for the management of moderate to severe glaucoma.
Dr. Fish is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed his undergraduate and medical school training at Indiana University in Bloomington. After spending time researching and publishing in the field of Molecular Biology, he decided to pursue a career in medicine. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2005, graduating with honors and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society. He then completed his medical internship at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee before moving on to his Ophthalmology residency. He trained at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee where he was elected to serve as Chief Resident. During this time, he was actively involved in ophthalmological research and presented at several national meetings as well as, published several papers.
Dr. Fish then completed a Cornea, Refractive and External Disease Fellowship at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye institute in Aurora, Colorado. He has been honored to participate in the American Board of Ophthalmology certification process for diplomates seeking board certification both as an oral board examiner and in developing the exam curriculum. He also has served on the board of Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons for many years in various positions, including holding the position of President and was elected to the prestigious American Eye Study Club. Dr. Fish is a nationally recognized cornea specialist and is often invited to serve as a thought leader in various aspects of the Ophthalmology physician community.
